Are you dissatisfied with your counsel?

The Finnish Bar Association makes sure that Finnish attorneys-at-law are of the highest professional calibre. The Finnish Bar Association has a legal duty to oversee the work of attorneys-at-law in order to ensure the standard of the legal services they provide.

This means that if the service that you were provided was not what was agreed or if you are otherwise dissatisfied with your attorney-at-law, you can file a complaint against them free of charge.

How do I file a complaint?

Complaints against attorneys-at-law, public legal aid attorneys and licensed legal counsel are handled by an independent Disciplinary Board, which operates in connection with the Finnish Bar Association.

If you feel that your attorney-at-law, public legal aid attorney or licensed legal counsel did not do their job or that their bill is excessive, you can file a complaint against them with our Disciplinary Board. Public summaries are produced of all decisions of the Disciplinary Board, the most significant of which you can find online at valvontaratkaisut.fi.

Complaints against licensed legal counsel that concern the imposition of sanctions or the revocation of licence are referred to the Board on Trial Counsel. More information about the process and how to file a complaint is available on the website of the Disciplinary Board.
